Vashon Island is in Puget Sound in the state of Washington. It's a very lovely, safe place with a strong arts community and a counter-cultural tilt. You have to take a ferry to get here (unless you have a private vessel). There is a mixture of second-grown forest, farmland, small communities, and typically rocky beaches found in Washington. These images reflect my thirty years living on this rock.
